Civil War Ballpoint Pens
What would be more appropriate for Galena than Civil War themed pens? The cap, clip, and nib along with the materials are all related to items used in the daily lives of the soldiers. The flag inlays represent the standards of the opposing sides. Osage Orange was the preferred wood for tent pegs because of its durability. Corn was in almost everything they ate.
The cap is a replica .58 Caliber Mini-ball. The nib is a replica .44 Caliber slug used in the Army Colt Revolvers, and the clip is a replica Springfield Rifle, used by both sides. Below are pictures of the cap, nib, and clip. All pens come with a gift box.
These pens are available from the Galena History Museum, 211 South Bench Street, Galena, Illinois 61036 815-777-9129 www.galenahistorymuseum.org
